The distillery is one of the oldest in Germany and was founded in 1602 at Maikammer, Rhineland Palatinate, but later transferred to Bad Dürkheim.


To the existing „Abfindungsbrennerei“ a malt distillery has been recently added (June, 2012). It is the lastes malt distillery in Germany (2012). The first malt spirit will be produced in autumn. The distillery will also be renamed when legal procedures will be accomplished. Next to the distillery is the Weingarten Hotel and Winery. The wash is produced by a local brewery according to the specification of the distillery. The spirit will mature in different casks from Kentucky and France. New casks will be set up by a local cooperage using local oak wood from the Palatian Forest. The warehouse is a dissused wine cellar which is underground.


The first and juvenile new make spirit was distilled on Tuesday September 4th, 2012 in the morning. On Tuesday December 4th, 2012 the first peated spirit (20ppm) was distilled. The first Single Malt was released on November 14th, 2015.
