Bairds Malt  Inverness

Locally grown barley from the Black Isle and the north-east region was the reason for building malting facilities in Inverness. The supply of the distilleries in the Speyside and in Morayshire was of easy access. The Inverness harbour allows the export of malt to brewers and distillers worldwide.

Bairds malt at Inverness has a production capacity of 45.000 tonnes of malt per year. In Plant 1 there are ten Saladin boxes, where steeping, germination and kilning is done without moving the barley. Plant 2 comprises also five Saladin boxes, but their production capacity is double of the size of Plant 1 which can also produce peated malt.

The Inverness maltings are certified by the Organic Food Federation to produce organic malt.

There is no public admittance.
