Royal Brackla the speckled hill
Royal Brackla the speckled hill
It was the first distillery to be granted a Royal Warrant by King William IV in 1835. Therefore its single malt was called The King‘s Own Whisky. Today the distillery produces about 3.900.000 litres of spirit.
No Royal Brackla Malt matures on site, the dunnage warehouses are empty. The spirit is tankered down south to a new bonding site at Happendon-Pontiel, South Lanarkshire, where now 18 new warehouses store each 70-80.000 casks of the distilleries Aberfeldy, Aultmore, Graigellachie and Macduff (2011). The new maturation facilities and blend center centralized whisky storage and blending of the Barcadi Group.
Royal Brackla is the largest distillery in the Dewar Group and created its own whisky region Findhorn in the Speyside.
