Glencadam Valley of the wild goose
Glencadam Valley of the wild goose
The distillery was founded in 1825 and is situated in the ancient Royal Burgh of Brechin, The Kingdom of Angus. The production capacity is 1.5 million litres of spirit per year. The storage capacity in the dunnage warehouses on site is about 20.000 casks. The water comes from the springs at the Moorans, 8.7 miles from the distillery, said to be the longest water supply in the industry.
Glencadam is one of the surviving distilleries of the Montrose area. Since 2003 Glencadam Distillery has been owned by Angus Dundee Distillers PLC. Today it is producing about 1.3 million litres of new make spirit. Glencadam operates two stills and the lye pipes run upwards, which makes the distilling process special and produces a very delicate light and fruity spirit.
There is an excellent fruity 15 year old official distillery bottling which was released for the first time in 2005. Glencadam Single Malts are rather underrated.
