Amrut

Amrut Distilleries Private Ltd. started distilling in 1948 when India became independent. Shri Radhakrishna Jagdale was a pioneer in the distilling industry. From a small blending and bottling unit Amrut has developed into a major producer of malt whiskies, grain whiskies, grape brandies, gin, vodka and rum.

The first Amrut Single Malt was launched in Glasgow in August 2004. Since then Amrut Single Malts have gained world-wide publicity and recognition. In India their single malt was released as late as in 2010.

The annual capacity of Amrut‘s pot still distillery is about 200 000 litres of malt spirit. In the malt distillery there are three pot stills which were manufactured locally by Indian coppersmiths. An extension of the distilling facilities is in the application process (2016). Only 6 % of Amrut‘s annual turnover is composed of Amrut Single Malts.

Amrut distillery is situated at Kambipura in Bangalore (Bengaluru), Karnataka, Southern India. The pot still distillery was built in 1987.
