The Dublin Whiskey Company
The Dublin Whiskey Company
The distillery is located in the heart of Dublin's Liberties, home to generations of distillers, brewers and weavers long before. It is just next door to Teeling Distillery.
Only a few yards near St Patrick‘s Cathedral distillery plans had been put forward by Marie Byrne, Edmond O‘Flaherty and Patrick O‘Brien. They planned to start production in January 2014. They hoped to distil one million litres of alcohol per year and planed to produce single pot still whiskey with their 10,000 litre wash still and 6,000 litre spirit still. Their plans were not put into reality but building permission was given by Dublin Council.
In March 2016 the UK based drinks group Quintessential Brands - owner of the whiskey brands The Dubliner and The Dublin Liberties - bought the Dublin Whiskey Company and expects to distil whiskey by the end of summer 2017.
Quintessential Brands - owner of First Ireland Spirits in Abbeyleix, Co. Laoise - produces Irish Whiskey Blends, Irish creams and liqueurs. They plan to invest about €10 million into the project.
