Bairds Malt  Inverness

 
 

Locally grown barley from the Lowland and was the reason for building malting facilities in Pencaitland. The majority of malt produced is for distilling.


Bairds malt at Pencaitland situated in the Lothians (just 12 miles east of Edinburgh) has a production capacity of 45.000 tonnes of malt per year and was built in 1965. The present plant was built in 1975. 


Malt processing is taking place in separate steeping, germination and kilning vessels. „Each batch size is 165 tonnes of barley.“ Bairds Malt
