Ballindalloch     

 
 

In 2014 Cragganmore got a new neighbour: The Ballindalloch Single Estate Distillery.


Lady Laird of Ballindalloch, Clare Macpherson-Grant Russell, and her son Guy MacPherson-Grant set up a Ballindalloch Distillery Limited Liability Partnership in December 2012. In June 2013 they received a grant of £1,274,684 by the Scottish government‘s Food Processing Marketing and Co-operation Grant Scheme for building a new micro distillery and bonded warehouse.


The application for restoration alterations and extension of a disused steading at Lagmore was permitted to the Ballindalloch Trust by the Moray Council in July 2012. A visitor facilities will also be built.


The new craft - micro  - distillery produces whisky and draws its water supply is from the River Avon which joins the River Spey besides Ballindalloch Castle. The Estate owns six miles of the River Avon which is the largest tributary of the Spey and very popular for salmon, seatrout and grilse.


The site of production is situated next to the Ballidalloch golf course. Access is from the A95.

The first spirit ran on Monday 22nd of September 2014.


The Ballindalloch Estate is owned by the Macpherson-Grant family and is centred around Ballindalloch Castle which is the family home since 1546, which is open to the public.


The castle is open to the public.
