Glenrothes glen ringfort
Glenrothes glen ringfort
Established in 1878 the distillery produces today about 5 to 6 million litres of spirit. The firts spirit ran on December 28th, 1879 when the Tay railway bridge collapsed and 75 passengers died.
Sixteen bonded warehouses are on site, there are four racking and twelve dunnage style warehouses. The Glenrothes is bottled by the year. These vintages are very popular.
Glenrothes Distillery is the spiritual home of Cutty Sark as its malt plays a vital role in that blend. Since 2010 Cutty Sark has been distributed by The Edrington Group. Berry Bros. & Rudd Ltd., London, took over the brand of The Glenrothes.
Distillery Manager: Alasdair Anderson (2011)
