Address: The Owl Distillery - Rue Sainte Anne, 94 4460 Grâce-Hollogne - Belgique

„The Owl Distillery represents a prestige diversification for the regional agricultural industry whilst respecting the environment and fulfilling the specifications for distilling an excellent Single Malt whisky.`The Owl` is a legendary bird, widespread in the forests of Belgium, and symbolises knowledge and wisdom: knowledge for distilling the best The Belgian Owl, Belgian Single Malt Whisky, and the wisdom needed when tasting it.“

The distillery was first situated in a suburb west of Liège - near the motorway A15 - in a small provisional workshop. The Single Malt whisky produced was exclusively made of barley, which had grown in Hesbaye in Belgium. The barley was malted by an industrial Belgian malster, then mashed on site and distilled in vintage Swiss pot stills dating back to 1880. The new make spirit is excellent: clean, not pungent, very fruity, a bit sweet and has got very long velvetly mouthfeel. There is only one version of non peated whisky. The whisky is bottled either at 46% A.B.V. or at cask strength non coloured and non chill filtred. Production started on October 29th, 2004 when the first cask was filled. The annual production capacity is 20.000 bottles (2012).

The new production site was transferred to the Ferme de Goreux in Fexhe-le-Haut Clocher (west of Liège). Two pot stills of the closed Caperdonich Distillery of Rothes in the Speyside which was bulldozed in 2011 were installed at the new site in June 2013.

There is a small visitor‘s reception office. Visits by appointment, staff is very friendly and helpful.

Distillery Manager: Ètienne Bouillon (2012)
