The Irish Whiskey Academy  Midleton

„The centre of excellence in Irish whiskey education“ was launched in 2013. The Academy „...is a comprehensive destination for education on how Irish whiskeys are crafted at Midleton Distillery, with detail on all the individual brands produced there including Jameson, Powers, Paddy, Redbreast, Midleton and the Spot Whiskeys Range.“

The Irish Whiskey Academy is accommodated in a converted 18th century Miller‘s House in the centre of the Midleton Distilleries in Co Cork. The Miller‘s House was originally the infirmary of the military barracks in 1796 and during the Napoleonic Wars of 1803-1815. Originally it was a woolen mill.

„Our aim is to provide you with a truly unforgettable distillery experience during which you’ll learn about the craft and expertise that goes into creating some of the greatest Irish whiskeys. Behind every drop of Midleton Distillery whiskey is a team of experts who devote their time, energy and skills to the art of whiskey distillation. Meet them and discover how they show their respect for tradition while embracing innovative new technologies,“ David McCabe explains the principle teaching objectives.

Academy courses usually run for two days, on a Thursday and Friday. Class sizes are limited to just 15 and they welcome reservations from individuals as well as groups.
